Completed: Fancy Tiger Crafts Fen Dress
I'm on a sewing roll! Look what I can do with a day off. I decided to try out the super simple, super awesome Fen dress I've seen floating the web. I'd never even heard of Fancy Tiger Crafts before- but I'm glad I did. This dress is totally what I wanted the Bettine disaster I made to be. Easy, relaxed, and not a total style faux pas.
I used a red tag clearance cotton lawn I picked up at Joann's a while ago. I don't know why I don't buy more lawn, I seriously love sewing and wearing it. I wore this dress all day and got a chance to grab a few snaps at my studio between client meetings. I used the extension piece for the front skirt pattern to create the dolphin hem. I prefer it over the high low hem. When I wear this around the house, I wear it unbelted. But for my body at least, this is a dress that begs for belt in the real world. I'd love to make the tunic size in a lightweight linen.
I did actually muslin this, but found I needed no fitting tweaks. It was perfect as is, which is never the case for me.
The best part has to be the pockets. I managed to put lens caps, sd cards, my keys, and iPhone in them without looking like a total packrat. I need about 100 of these dresses. Get ready to see a lot of remakes!
