I was a tester for the new Made For Mermaids Mama Camilla Swimsuit, a part of the new mermaid shores collection. I've been on a bit of a swim sewing kick recently, blame the weather! I picked a very obnoxious highlighter neon pink fabric for this suit. You will either love it or hate it, I'm obviously team love it. My fiance is team hate it and burn it with fire. You can't please them all, and I'm to the point in my life where I'm going to live out my barbie beach dream fantasies alright?
It's been stormy and chilly these past couple weeks in the Midwest. So when I took these photos it was in a ten-minute break in the rain. Not the sunny photoshoot this suit deserved. The neon pink swim knit is from Joann's. I have plans to use this pattern to make a bodysuit out of knit, which is right on trend for this summer.
The pattern also has straps you can add on. The neckline didn't seem like it would budge too much for some casual pool hangtime, but I could see where they'd be necessary if you were doing any amount of real swimming. Plus side is that if you do add the straps they can be tucked into the suit if you don't want to get tan lines. The sleeves can also be worn under the armpit for a bust ruffle look. I lengthened the body a bit, which is standard for me, besides that there were no alterations.
What do you think? Is the neon terrible, or an overreaction on my partner's part?
