I didn't actually end up doing anything besides passing out candy to the local kids. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, so I had to dress up! I used the patterns for pirates wiggle dress pattern to make my tail. I cut off the bodice of the pattern and made a waistband that was a little bit smaller than my waist. I eased the band into the new skirt pattern just like you would any other knit waistband. I also cut the flared piece off of the skirt, and used it as a separate pattern piece, and lengthened it a bit to make it more mermaid-like. The fabric is from Joann's.
The top is made up of shells and a bathing suit top I already owned. The kimono I made forever ago, but had to throw on because it was so cold outside! At least the rain held out for the trick or treaters.
My hair was a very obvious lace front wig, I picked it up second hand from a costuming friend. I'm fairly certain it was an eBay purchase. It makes me wish I could keep up with the platinum hair though, I had a couple months of my hair actually being that color before the constant root upkeep and my not bleach friendly natural color made me call it quits.
What were you for Halloween? Any awesome DIY's you need to show me?
